Welcome to "Formanek
Pond." Our family moved to Wadena, Minnesota in the fall
of 1994 to pursue our careers as a registered nurse (Traci) and a high
school visual arts teacher (Jim) and have loved our time here. Both of
our parents live in our home town of Forest City, Iowa but often times
come up to visit us and their grandchildren. Mikena and Josie are now 9
and 6 years of age. Both girls joined youth hockey this season as
their choice for a winter activity. We are now officially "hockey
parents." Yikes.
This website is a journal of our lives in the summer and
winter here in Minnesota and the places we visit. Near the end of summer
2006 we bought an addition to our summer activities with the purchase of a 25'
pontoon boat which you will find in the "Toon Tales" link. The winter
of 2006 we purchased a backyard ice rink kit and are learning to skate
all together. Now the winter of 2007 is upon us and more additions
to the rink have been made. Updates will be frequent so be sure to keep watching the
Recent

the main pull-downs. |

"The
Last Ride... I hope?!"
Crazy times. From buying The Uptown and
all the paperwork I have been completing in the last couple of months
to now a snow storm at the end of April. My guess is that we
received more snow... |

Bobby
Hull Day on Formanek Pond!!! |
Formanek Pond had the honor of hosting Hall of
Famer Bobby Hull on Saturday, Feb. 23rd 2008! The journal is no where
complete, but the photo album is. You can enjoy it as you wait for
more details in the days to come via the link below. Over 90 people
shared time with Bobby and Formanek Pond!
He was gracious, thankful, energetic, patient, a teacher and most
of all LOVING to our rink, hockey and my family!
If you ever have an opportunity to met Mr. Hull, no matter what
the circumstance, grab it and savor the moment.
My family and I are forever grateful to Mr. Hull.
We are also honored to have met and spent time with Jim Stoller of
NiceRink.com. Both shared over 11 hours with us on the rink and with
family and friends.

.:: Is It True?
::.
Awake at 8am and feeling
refreshed. Dad and I made our way across the street for some
breakfast as AJ stayed back getting ready and not real fond of AM
food. The Pines is right across the street from the Mariner
North. The omelet and food was great. I worked a little
bit on journaling |

.:: Stained Glass
::.
Onto the sleds and out into the
wilderness. About 10 degrees today. The trail out of Big
Bay had been groomed late afternoon or last night and there was
about 4" of snow on top of the table top smooth trail. It made
you feel like you were floating. |

.:: Deep Snow
::.
The beds at the
motel last night were the worst I have ever slept on. AJ and my room
had two military still beds and they were shot. Inmate beds in prison
is what they reminded me of. Dad didn't seem to mind his room, but I
never really looked at his bed. I know it was a queen so I am guessing
it wasn't left over from the Air Force. |

When I woke up this morning around 8am and
accessed how my melon was going to be feeling for the day, I was
impressed. No headache! AJ still sleeping. Dad...

.:: Hall of Famer Bobby Hull ::.
On Wednesday, February 6th, 2008 our
family telephone rang with caller I.D. showing that the call was coming from
Wisconsin and a familiar phone number. Nice Rink. When I
answered Jim Stoller was on the other
end and asked if the family was near. The girls and Traci were running
errands so Jim announced to me, "I usually like to tell the family together,
but we are coming to your rink to skate." My reply was, "Are you
frickin' kidding me?" |
